Questions
Quality, file sizes, phones, accounts, expiring links, and what this tool will not do. Answers from what was measured, not what sounds good.
Do I need an account on either site?
No. XFreeHD’s own download button requires one — every option under it links to its sign-up page. This tool does not.
Do I need to install anything?
No, nothing at all. XFreeHD links work by pasting. For xfree.com, its pages sit behind a bot check that a server cannot pass, so instead you right-click the playing video, copy its video address, and paste that.
What quality can I get?
On XFreeHD, one of two files, labelled SD and HD by XFreeHD itself. No pixel resolution is published by the source, so none is stated here. On xfree.com, the same file the site plays to you.
How large is the file?
It is shown as it downloads, not before. XFreeHD keeps one working address per video at a time, so measuring the file first would break the link you are about to use. For scale: on XFreeHD, SD files measured between roughly 78 MB and 225 MB and HD files between roughly 176 MB and 450 MB, depending entirely on length.
Why did my download address stop working?
They expire on the source’s side after about three hours. Fetch the link again and you will get a fresh one. This is normal and nothing is wrong with the video.
Why does it sometimes fail and then work on a retry?
XFreeHD occasionally refuses an address moments after issuing it, at random. Retrying the same address never helps — it is permanently dead — so this tool requests a completely new one instead. That is what a retry here actually does.
How do I save a video on an iPhone?
Press Save and let it finish, then open the Downloads item in Safari and choose Save to Files. iOS will not put an MP4 straight into Photos from a browser; it goes to Files, and you can move it from there.
How do I save a video on Android?
Press Save. Chrome puts the file in your Downloads folder. Most gallery apps will pick it up on their own; if yours does not, any file manager will open it.
Do you keep a copy of the video?
No. Nothing is stored. For XFreeHD the file passes through this server as a stream and is never written to disk; for xfree.com it does not pass through this server at all.
Is it safe? Are there pop-ups?
There are no pop-unders, no fake download buttons, and no redirects on the way to your file. There is nothing to install for XFreeHD links.
Can I download private, paid or members-only videos?
No, and this is not a limitation that will be lifted. This tool reads what a site already shows to anyone who visits it. Anything behind a login or a payment stays there.
Is this legal?
This tool reads publicly visible pages and passes on the addresses it finds. What you do with a file is your responsibility, and copyright still applies to it. If you own material that appears on either source site, the takedown route is the source site — see the copyright page for what can and cannot be done here.
